Introduction: Tally Prime is one of the most powerful and easy-to-use accounting software used by businesses across India. If you’re a new user or switching from Tally ERP 9, this guide will help you install and set up Tally Prime from scratch.
Step 1: Download Tally Prime
- Visit the official website: https://tallysolutions.com
- Click on “Download Tally Prime”
- Save the setup file (approx. 100–150 MB)
Step 2 : Install Tally Prime
- Run the downloaded .exe file
- Choose the installation path (or keep default)
- Click Install
- The process will take a few seconds to complete
Step 3: Activate License
After installation, launch the software. You will see options:
- Activate New License (for first-time users)
- Reactivate Existing License
- Use in Educational Mode (for learning purposes)
Select Activate New License and enter:
- Serial Number (from purchase
- Activation Key (from email/SMS)
- Administrator email ID
Step 4: Create a Company in Tally Prime
Now that Tally is installed and activate
- Go to Create Compan
- Enter the following:
- Company Name
- Financial Year Start (e.g., 01-Apr-2024)
- Address, State, PIN

3. Press Ctrl + A to save
